Silver Dollar CityThis is the woodvarving shop at Silver Dollar City where I enjoy going several times a year. I wish I could say I carved everything in the picture but I really only did the projects in front of me on the table. If you have never had the opportunity to enjoy SDC put it on "your things to do." You will love it.

Small Mallard Feather PinThis Mallard pin features a clutch back perfect for a tie tack, lapel pin or hat pin. I have worn one on a baseball cap for several years and it is still going strong.

Merriam's Wild Turkey Feather PinThis pendant is hand carved from tupelo and hand painted in acrylics. It features a green iridescent bar highlighted in bronze, copper and violet. The fringe is snow white. Found in the western USA they are known to cover miles and miles each day. You better have your running shoes on if you are going to chase this trophy.

Gadwall Feather PinGadwalls are one cool duck. I would have to say they are part of the big 5...Mallard, Black Duck, Pintail, Widgeon, and, Gadwall. Of course, I do this pin in both the large and small size. It is hand carved from tupelo and hand painted in acrylics.

Hand Carved Turkey SpursThis is an example of the spurs I carved for a beard rack. I could also make these into an impressive necklace.Feb 26, 2012

Wild Turkey Beard RackThis beard rack is hand carved from basswood and hand painted in acrylics. It features Easter, Rio Grande, and Merriams covert feathers. There are 60 holes for beards and I carved 25 spurs to hold the front row of beards. Then add a few wing feathers, maple leaves, oak leaves, mushrooms an arrowhead and a 10 ga. shotgun shell and my step-son Jason received a nice Birthday present. A piece similar to this would be approximately $1500.00Feb 26, 2012

3 Feather Walnut EarringsThis pair of earrings is hand carved from Missouuri Black Walnut. The feathers are burned however, they are not painted. When you put finish on these they explode with color as the natural color of the Walnut comes to life. Feb 26, 2012

BuffaloThis piece is hand carved from basswood and hand painted in acrylics. The Buffalo is seperate from the base. I wanted to capture the strength of this magnificient bull as he overlooks the plains below. I wanted the base to signify "life"...the water, the grass, and finally death. The base took as long to carve as the Bull. The Bull is 10" long and 8.5" high. A similar piece would be $1000.00. Feb 26, 2012

Eastern Wild Turkey Covert FeatherHere is a matted and framed Eastern with an Arrowhead and a Maple Leaf. Since this is matted and framed it would sell for $200.00...however if you wished a similar piece on barn board your investment would only be $125.00. My frames are all solid oak and custom made with a deep rabbit to hold the feathers. I do my own matting which saves a bundle on each piece. Feb 26, 2012
